Hope Scholarship 2011: Fulfill the Academic and Other Requirements
What could be better than scholarships to meet the need of extra college expense and reduce guardian’s stress for your academics. University of West Georgia offers you one such opportunity with Hope scholarship 2011. Office of Financial aid had announced state scholarships based on need and merit basis.
Hope Scholarship of Georgia is available for all residents of Georgia having good academic achievements in the academics during schools, college/University. The free amount provided by this scholarship can help brainy in funding their many cost associated with tuition, fees, books etc. Students should be pursuing graduation or an associated bachelor’s degree in the Georgia College or Universities.
Award money given to the winners differs on the institutions they attend.
For Public Institutions:-
Students attending public and government colleges or university receive an award for the following:
- Allowance for books up to $150 per semester or $100 per quarter
- Mandatory fees as approved by HOPE
- Tuition for number of hours enrolled as part time or full time
For Private institutions:-
Students attending private colleges or universities receive awards for the following:
- Full Time Courses...$2,000 per semester, $1,333 per quarter
- Half Time Courses...$1,000 per semester, $666 per quarter
The aspiring applicants who have received
- Payment from any combination of HOPE scholarship, HOOPE Grant and Accel Program funds totaling 127 semesters (190 Quarter) hours of credit, or
- Has earned a baccalaureate (four-year) college degree, regardless of had received HOPE funds or not while earning the degree, or
- Have attempted 127 semesters (190 quarter) hours of the college degree credit, regardless of the fact that HOPE funds were received or not during the course hours..........are not eligible for HOPE scholarship 2011.
Applying for HOPE Scholarships 2011 is easy but you should always check with the college you are going to attend to meet and complete all the norms required for HOPE. Aspiring participants may apply through ELECTRONIC APPLICATION or through PDF forms (Printable Paper Application) or can proceed with an easy way by using your GAcollege411 account and free accessing the FAFSA (Free application for Federal Aid) application from GAcollege411 to reduce the time intake in application procedure.
Application deadline is while you have the last day of classes or exams to submit the application but earlier you apply earlier HOPE funds are released into your accounts and distributed to your school for that semester.
Eligibility criteria for HOPE Scholarship are:
- Academic Requirement:- (Should meet one of the following)
- Applicant should be graduate from a HOPE eligible high school with average CGPA of 3.0 for college preparatory diploma or a 3.2 GPA for other diploma types.
- For all Georgia High School graduates with a high school career from 2008-2009 school years must be graduate with 3.0 GPA.
- Should complete a HOPE eligible home study program with a 3.0 GPA.
- Those who are graduate from a ineligible high school, should complete an ineligible home study program, or earn a GED and score a national composite 85th percentile or higher on SAT or ACT tests.
- Graduate from an ineligible high school or complete an ineligible home study program, and then earn a 3.0 GPA on 30 semester hour or 45 quarter hours of college degree-level course work. This option after taken allows for the payment of first 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours.
- VI. Should earn a 3.0 GPA at college level or degree coursework after attempting 30, 60, 90 semesters’ hours or 45, 90 or 135 quarter hours regardless of the high school graduation hours.
Other Requirements:-
- Should meet HOPE’s Georgia residency requirements.
- Should meet HOPE’s U.S citizenship or eligible non-citizen norms.
- Not be in a default or owe a refund on a student financial aid program.
- Be in compliance with Selective Service registration requirements.
- Should be in compliance with the Georgia Drug-Free Postsecondary Education Act of 1990.
- Should be enrolled as a degree-seeking student at an eligible public or private college or university or any technical college in Georgia.
- Should maintain satisfactory norms of academic progress as defined by the college.
