It gives scholarship to those who have showed their potential in academy or showed quality of leading or have any community involvement. It seeks to identify African-American high school seniors. You must be eligible for the scholarship and the eligibility is that you will have to enroll as a full time high school senior, and will have to show critical financial need. You should be involve in co-curricular and community services activities, your minimum grade point average should be of 2.0 and you must be U.S citizen.

If you are required to submit an essay you must take care that it should not exceed more than it is asked. To win the Ron Brown Scholarship 2011 each contestant must submit an essay and the length of essay must not less than 1,000 words or more than 1,500 words. The essay should not be handwritten but typed neatly by you. Before mailing it you should mention your name, address, telephone number, the name of your school, your grade level, the address of your school etc. You have to write essay stating your personal experiences in overcoming adversity in order to reach your goal.

Ron Brown has designated more than 250 students as Ron Brown scholars till now. Ron Brown scholarship 2011 is not limited to any particular field. You can use it to study in any academic discipline within the United States .10 of you are given $10,000 every year to pursue your studies in the collage of your choice. Thus for four year you are given money that is four times of $10,000.

Winners of the scholarship will be notified by the 1st of April and the names of the winner of the Ron Brown scholarship 2011 will be known by the end of April or early May.
